Original Water Delivery Techniques in Rome
Original Water Delivery Techniques in Rome With the construction of the first elevated aqueduct in Rome, the Aqua Anio Vetus in 273 BC, people who lived on the city’s hills no longer had to rely strictly on naturally-occurring spring water for their demands. Outside of these aqueducts and springs, wells and rainwater-collecting cisterns were the sole technological innovations around at the time to supply water to spots of greater elevation. Beginning in the sixteenth century, a newer strategy was introduced, using Acqua Vergine’s subterranean segments to supply water to Pincian Hill. Throughout the length of the aqueduct’s route were pozzi, or manholes, that gave access. The manholes made it easier to maintain the channel, but it was also achievable to use buckets to pull water from the aqueduct, as we witnessed with Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi when he owned the property from 1543 to 1552, the year he died. Even though the cardinal also had a cistern to collect rainwater, it didn’t provide enough water. To give himself with a more streamlined system to obtain water, he had one of the manholes opened up, offering him access to the aqueduct below his property.Bernini's Early Masterpieces

A Smaller Garden Space? Don't Feel Left Out! You Can Still Have a Water Fountain
A Smaller Garden Space? Don't Feel Left Out! You Can Still Have a Water Fountain The reflective properties of water means it can make smaller spaces look bigger than they are. Dark materials increase the reflective properties of a fountain or water feature. If your objective is to highlight your new feature at night, underwater lights in varied colors and shapes will do the trick.
The greenery in your backyard is the perfect place to situate your water feature. Your pond, artificial river, or fountain is the perfect feature to draw people’s attention. Water features make great additions to both large gardens or little patios. The best way to improve the atmosphere, place it in a good place and use the right accompaniments.
