A Wall Water Feature to Suit Your Design

A Wall Water Feature to Suit Your Design You can find peace and silence when you add a wall fountain in your backyard or patio. You can also make the most of a small space by having one custom-built. Both the stand alone and fitted types need to have a spout, a water basin, internal tubing, and a pump. You have many styles to a lot to choose from whether you are searching for a traditional, popular, classical, or Asian style.

Normally quite big, freestanding wall fountains, also referred to as floor fountains, have their basins on the floor.

A stand-alone water feature can either be incorporated onto a wall already in existence or built into a wall under construction. This style of fountain adds to a cohesive look making it seem as if it was part of the landscape instead of an added feature.

Rome’s First Water Transport Solutions

Rome’s First Water Transport Solutions Aqua Anio Vetus, the first raised aqueduct founded in Rome, began delivering the many people living in the hills with water in 273 BC, though they had depended on natural springs up until then. When aqueducts or springs weren’t available, people dwelling at higher elevations turned to water removed from underground or rainwater, which was made possible by wells and cisterns. To deliver water to Pincian Hill in the early 16th century, they implemented the emerging tactic of redirecting the current from the Acqua Vergine aqueduct’s underground channel.Rome’s First Water Transport Solutions 691888024611196298.jpg As originally constructed, the aqueduct was provided along the length of its channel with pozzi (manholes) constructed at regular intervals. While these manholes were developed to make it less difficult to manage the aqueduct, it was also feasible to use buckets to extract water from the channel, which was exercised by Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi from the time he bought the property in 1543 to his death in 1552. It seems that, the rainwater cistern on his property wasn’t good enough to fulfill his needs. To give himself with a more streamlined system to assemble water, he had one of the manholes opened, providing him access to the aqueduct below his property.

When and Where Did Water Fountains Emerge?

When and Where Did Water Fountains Emerge?Water Fountains Emerge? 30720154449259.jpg Pope Nicholas V, himself a learned man, reigned the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455 during which time he commissioned many translations of ancient classic Greek texts into Latin. In order to make Rome deserving of being the capital of the Christian world, the Pope resolved to embellish the beauty of the city. In 1453 the Pope commissioned the reconstruction of the Aqua Vergine, an historic Roman aqueduct which had carried fresh drinking water into the city from eight miles away. The ancient Roman tradition of marking the arrival point of an aqueduct with an imposing celebratory fountain, also known as a mostra, was restored by Nicholas V. The Trevi Fountain now occupies the area formerly filled with a wall fountain built by Leon Battista Albert, an architect employed by the Pope. The aqueduct he had refurbished included modifications and extensions which eventually allowed it to supply water to the Trevi Fountain as well as the renowned baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and the Piazza Navona.
