The Source of Modern Day Outdoor Water Fountains Pope Nicholas V, himself a well educated man, reigned the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455 during which time he commissioned many translations of old classical Greek texts into Latin.
In order to make Rome worthy of being the capital of the Christian world, the Pope decided to embellish the beauty of the city. At the bidding of the Pope, the Aqua Vergine, a ruined aqueduct which had transported clean drinking water into Rome from eight miles away, was renovated starting in 1453. The historical Roman custom of marking the entry point of an aqueduct with an magnificent celebratory fountain, also known as a mostra, was restored by Nicholas V. The present-day site of the Trevi Fountain was previously occupied by a wall fountain commissioned by the Pope and constructed by the architect Leon Battista Alberti. The water which eventually provided the Trevi Fountain as well as the famed baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona flowed from the modified aqueduct which he had renovated.

Landscape Fountains As Water Features
A water feature is a big element which has water flowing in or through it. There is an extensive array of such features going from something as simple as a hanging wall fountain or as complex as a courtyard tiered fountain. Since they are so functional, these decorative elements can be located either in your backyard or inside your home. Pools and ponds are also considered water features. Garden wall fountains are important additions to your living spaces such as yards, yoga studios, cozy patios, apartment verandas, or office complexes. There is nothing better to relax you while also activating your senses of sight and hearing than the gratifying sounds of slowly flowing water in your fountain. The most important consideration is the pleasantly eye-catching form they have which complements the decor of any room. The water’s soothing sounds contribute to a feeling of tranquility, cover up disagreeable noises, and provide a wonderful water display.
