The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Outdoor Fountains
The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Outdoor Fountains Proper care and regular maintenance are important to the longevity of water fountains. It is important to clean it out and take out any debris or foreign objects that might have gotten into or onto it. Another factor is that water that is exposed to sunlight is susceptible to growing algae.
Every three-four months, garden fountains should go through a serious cleaning. First you must remove the water. When you have done this, scrub inside the water reservoir with a gentle detergent. If there is intricate artwork, you might need to use a toothbrush for those hard-to-reach areas. Make sure all the soap is completely washed off.
It is highly suggested taking the pump apart to better clean the inside and remove any plankton or calcium. Soaking it in vinegar for a bit will make it easier to wash. Neither rain water nor mineral water contain components that will collect inside the pump, so use either over tap water if possible.
Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain every day and add water if you see that the level is too low. If the water level drops below the pump’s intake level, it can damage the pump and cause it to burn out - something you don't want to happen!
