The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Garden Water fountains
Every three-four months, garden fountains should go through a decent cleaning. Before you can start cleaning it you must empty out all of the water. Once it is empty, scrub inside the reservoir with a mild cleanser. If there is delicate artwork, you might need to use a toothbrush for those hard-to-reach areas. Be sure to thoroughly rinse the inside of the fountain to make sure all the soap is gone.
It is highly advised taking the pump apart to better clean the inside and eliminate any plankton or calcium. You might want to let it soak in vinegar for a few hours to make it much less difficult to wash. Neither rain water nor mineral water contain components that will collect inside the pump, so use either over tap water if possible.
And finally, make sure the water level is always full in order to keep your fountain operating smoothly. If the water level slides below the pump’s intake level, it can damage the pump and cause it to burn out - something you don't want to happen!
