A globally renowned innovator in hydraulics in the later part of the 1500's was a French fountain engineer, whose name has been lost to history. By creating landscapes and grottoes with built-in and ingenious water features, he started off his occupation in Italy by receiving Royal commissions in Brussels, London and Germany. “The Principles of Moving Forces”, a guide that turned into the fundamental book on hydraulic mechanics and engineering, was authored by him toward the end of his lifetime in France.
