The Root of Contemporary Outdoor Wall Fountains
The Root of Contemporary Outdoor Wall Fountains Pope Nicholas V, himself a well educated man, ruled the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455 during which time he commissioned many translations of ancient classic Greek texts into Latin. He undertook the beautification of Rome to turn it into the worthy capital of the Christian world. Beginning in 1453, the ruined ancient Roman aqueduct known as the Aqua Vergine which had brought fresh drinking water into the city from eight miles away, underwent reconstruction at the behest of the Pope. The ancient Roman tradition of building an awe-inspiring commemorative fountain at the location where an aqueduct arrived, also known as a mostra, was revived by Nicholas V. The architect Leon Battista Alberti was directed by the Pope to construct a wall fountain where we now find the Trevi Fountain. The water which eventually supplied the Trevi Fountain as well as the acclaimed baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona came from the modified aqueduct which he had renovated. The Innumerable Choices in Garden Wall Fountains

Freestanding wall fountains, commonly known as floor fountains, are considerably big and feature a basin on the ground.
It is possible to incorporate a wall-mounted fountain onto an already existing wall or built into a new wall. Integrating this type of water feature into your landscape brings a cohesiveness to the look you want to achieve rather than making it seem as if the fountain was merely added later.
