Keep Your Landscape Fountain Clean

Keep Your Landscape Fountain CleanKeep Landscape Fountain Clean 91832282533950564.jpg Water fountains will last a very long time with scheduled cleaning and maintenance. A common issue with fountains is that they tend to accumulate dirt and debris, so it is essential that you keep it free from this. On top of that, algae can be a concern, as sun hitting the water allows it to form quickly. Either sea salt, hydrogen peroxide, or vinegar can be blended into the water to prevent this issue. Some people opt for adding bleach into the water, but the problem is that it harms wildlife - so it should be avoided.

Every 3-4 months, garden fountains should go through a serious cleaning. Prior to cleaning, all of the water must be taken out. Then use a soft towel and gentle cleanser to scrub the inside. A helpful tip is to use a toothbrush if there are small hard-to-reach spots. Any soap residue left on your fountain can harm it, so be sure it is all rinsed off.

Make sure you get rid of any calcium or plankton by taking the pump apart and scrubbing the inside carefully. Letting it soak in vinegar for a couple of hours first will make it much easier to clean. Neither rain water nor mineral water contain ingredients that will accumulate inside the pump, so use either over tap water if possible.

Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain every day and add water if you notice that the level is depleted. Allowing the water level to get too low can cause damage to the pump - and you certainly don't want that!

The Source of Today's Garden Fountains

The Source of Today's Garden Fountains Pope Nicholas V, himself a learned man, ruled the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455 during which time he commissioned many translations of old classical Greek documents into Latin. It was important for him to embellish the city of Rome to make it worthy of being known as the capital of the Christian world. At the bidding of the Pope, the Aqua Vergine, a ruined aqueduct which had transported clean drinking water into Rome from eight miles away, was renovated starting in 1453. The historical Roman custom of marking the entry point of an aqueduct with an imposing celebratory fountain, also known as a mostra, was restored by Nicholas V. The architect Leon Battista Alberti was commissioned by the Pope to build a wall fountain where we now find the Trevi Fountain. The water which eventually furnished the Trevi Fountain as well as the renown baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona flowed from the modified aqueduct which he had renovated.

Fountain Designers Through History

Fountain Designers Through History Water fountain designers were multi-talented people from the 16th to the later part of the 18th century, often working as architects, sculptors, artisans, engineers and cultivated scholars all in one person. Exemplifying the Renaissance skilled artist as a innovative legend, Leonardo da Vinci toiled as an innovator and scientific specialist. He carefully recorded his observations in his currently famed notebooks, after his mind boggling curiosity in the forces of nature led him to investigate the properties and movement of water. Converting private villa settings into imaginative water displays packed with symbolic interpretation and natural wonder, early Italian water feature creators combined imagination with hydraulic and horticultural expertise. The humanist Pirro Ligorio provided the vision behind the wonders in Tivoli and was distinguished for his virtuosity in archeology, architecture and garden design. Other fountain developers, masterminding the fantastic water marbles, water functions and water antics for the various estates near Florence, were well-versed in humanistic themes and time-honored scientific readings.
