Keeping Your Water Wall Fountain Clean
Keeping Your Water Wall Fountain Clean Water fountains will last a very long time with regular cleaning and maintenance.
A complete cleaning every three-four months is ideal for garden fountains. Before you can start cleaning it you must empty out all of the water. Then use a soft rag and mild cleanser to scrub the inside. A good tip is to use a toothbrush if there are tiny hard-to-reach spots. Be sure to thoroughly rinse the interior of the fountain to make sure all the soap is gone.
Calcium and fresh water organisms could get inside the pump, so you should really disassemble it to get it truly clean. Letting it soak in vinegar for several hours first will make it much easier to clean. If you want to remove build-up in your fountain, use rain water or mineral water versus tap water, as these don’t contain any components that will stick to the inside of the pump.
Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain every day and add water if you notice that the level is low. Allowing the water to drop below the pump’s intake level, can cause major damage and even make the pump burn out - an undesired outcome!
