Archaic Greek Artwork: Garden Statuary
Archaic Greek Artwork: Garden Statuary Archaic Greeks were well known for developing the first freestanding statuary; up until then, most carvings were constructed out of walls and pillars as reliefs. For the most part the statues, or kouros figures, were of young and desirable male or female (kore) Greeks. Considered by Greeks to represent skin care, the kouroi were created into stiff, forward facing poses with one foot outstretched, and the male statues were always nude, brawny, and athletic. The kouroi became life-sized starting in 650 BC. The Archaic period was an amazing point of transformation for the Greeks as they extended into new modes of government, produced unique expressions of art, and gained insights of the people and cultures outside of Greece. But in spite of the conflicts, the Greek civilization continued to advance, unabated.Bernini’s Early Italian Water Fountains
Bernini’s Early Italian Water Fountains The Barcaccia, a stunning water fountain built at the base of the Trinita dei Monti in Piaza di Spagna, was Bernini's earliest fountain. To this day, this area is filled with Roman locals and travelers alike who enjoy debate and each other's company. One of the city’s most fashionable gathering places are the streets surrounding Bernini's fountain, which would undoubtedly have brought a smile to the great Bernini. The master's very first fountain of his career was built at around 1630 at the behest of Pope Urbano VIII.
The Many Kinds of Wall Fountains
The Many Kinds of Wall Fountains Placing a wall fountain in your backyard or patio is perfect when you want to unwind. Even a little space can contain a custom-made one.
Freestanding wall fountains, commonly known as floor fountains, are noticeably big and feature a basin on the ground.
You can decide to place your wall-mounted fountain on an existing wall or build it into a new wall. Incorporating this type of water feature into your landscape brings a cohesiveness to the look you want to achieve rather than making it seem as if the fountain was merely added later.
