Keep Your Outdoor Wall Fountain Clean
Keep Your Outdoor Wall Fountain Clean In order to ensure that water fountains last a long time, it is important to practice regular maintenance. Leaves, twigs, and bugs very often find their way into fountains, so it is important to keep yours free from such things. Also, algae tends to build up any place natural light meets water. Either sea salt, hydrogen peroxide, or vinegar can be blended into the water to prevent this issue. Bleach can also be dissolved into the water, but this is not the ideal option as it can sicken birds or other animals.Every three-four months, garden fountains should undergo a decent cleaning. Before cleaning, all the water must be taken out. Then use gentle and a soft sponge to clean the innner part of the reservoir. If there is detailed artwork, you might need to use a toothbrush for those hard-to-reach areas. Any soap residue that remains on your fountain can harm it, so be sure it is all rinsed off.
Calcium and fresh water organisms could get inside the pump, so you should really disassemble it to get it truly clean. You might want to let it soak in vinegar for a few hours to make it easier to wash. Build-up can be a big problem, so use mineral or rain water over tap water, when possible, to reduce this dilemma.
Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain daily and add water if you notice that the level is too low. If the water level falls below the pump’s intake level, it can damage the pump and cause it to burn out - something you don't want to happen!
