The Dispersion of Water Fountain Design Technology
The Dispersion of Water Fountain Design Technology The published documents and illustrated books of the time contributed to the advancements of scientific technology, and were the chief methods of transmitting useful hydraulic information and water fountain suggestions throughout Europe. An internationally recognized pioneer in hydraulics in the late 1500's was a French water fountain designer, whose name has been lost to history. With Royal mandates in Brussels, London and Germany, he started his work in Italy, building experience in garden design and grottoes with incorporated and clever water features.
He authored a book entitled “The Principles of Moving Forces” towards the end of his life while in France that became the essential text on hydraulic mechanics and engineering. Modernizing vital hydraulic discoveries of classical antiquity, the book also highlights contemporary hydraulic technologies. Archimedes, the developer of the water screw, had his work highlighted and these integrated a mechanized way to move water. Sunlight heating up liquid in two vessels hidden in a room next to an decorative fountain was shown in one illustration. Activating the fountain is hot water that expands and rises to seal up the pipes. Pumps, water wheels, water attributes and backyard pond concepts are documented in the publication.
Rome’s Early Water Transport Solutions
Rome’s Early Water Transport Solutions
Prior to 273, when the first elevated aqueduct, Aqua Anio Vetus, was built in Roma, residents who dwelled on hills had to travel even further down to gather their water from natural sources. Outside of these aqueducts and springs, wells and rainwater-collecting cisterns were the sole technologies obtainable at the time to supply water to segments of high elevation. Starting in the sixteenth century, a unique strategy was introduced, using Acqua Vergine’s subterranean segments to deliver water to Pincian Hill. As originally constructed, the aqueduct was provided along the length of its channel with pozzi (manholes) constructed at regular intervals. During the some 9 years he owned the residential property, from 1543 to 1552, Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi employed these manholes to take water from the channel in containers, though they were originally designed for the goal of cleaning and servicing the aqueduct. The cistern he had made to collect rainwater wasn’t sufficient to meet his water specifications. That is when he made a decision to create an access point to the aqueduct that ran below his property.
