Keep Your Outdoor Garden Fountain Clean
Keep Your Outdoor Garden Fountain Clean Appropriate care and regular upkeep are important to the longevity of water fountains.
Experts recommend that the typical garden fountain undergoes a thorough scrubbing every three-four months. Before cleaning, all the water must be taken out. Once it is empty, scrub inside the reservoir with a gentle cleanser. If there are any small grooves, use a toothbrush to reach every spot. Any soap residue that remains on your fountain can damage it, so be sure it is all rinsed off.
Some organisms and calcium deposits may get inside the pump, so it is advised to take it apart and clean it completely. To make it less challenging, soak it in vinegar overnight before cleaning. Mineral or rain water, versus tap water, is ideal in order to prevent any build-up of chemicals inside the pump.
And finally, make sure the water level is always full in order to keep your fountain operating optimally. Allowing the water to drop below the pump’s intake level, can cause severe damage and even make the pump burn out - an undesired outcome!
