Rome’s First Water Transport Systems
Rome’s First Water Transport Systems With the construction of the first elevated aqueduct in Rome, the Aqua Anio Vetus in 273 BC, individuals who lived on the city’s hillsides no longer had to rely only on naturally-occurring spring water for their demands. Outside of these aqueducts and springs, wells and rainwater-collecting cisterns were the sole technological innovations readily available at the time to supply water to segments of high elevation. To provide water to Pincian Hill in the early 16th century, they applied the emerging strategy of redirecting the flow from the Acqua Vergine aqueduct’s underground network. Pozzi, or manholes, were engineered at regular intervals along the aqueduct’s channel. The manholes made it easier to maintain the channel, but it was also achievable to use buckets to extract water from the aqueduct, as we saw with Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi when he possessed the property from 1543 to 1552, the year he died. Reportedly, the rainwater cistern on his property wasn’t sufficient to fulfill his needs. That is when he made the decision to create an access point to the aqueduct that ran directly below his residential property. The Various Construction Materials of Wall fountains
The Various Construction Materials of Wall fountains Although they come in different materials, today’s garden fountains tend to be made of metal. Metallic ones offer clean lines and unique sculptural accents and will fit in with nearly any decorative style and budget. If you have a modern-day look and feel to your interior design, your yard and garden should mirror that same style.Today, a lot of people favor copper for their sculptural garden fountains. Copper fountains are the best choice because they are perfect for the inside and outside. Copper is also versatile enough that you can choose a range of styles for your fountain, from contemporary to whimsical.
Also common, brass fountains often have a more old-fashioned style to them versus their copper counterpart. Although it is not the most modern, the creatures and sculptural features you find on fountains are commonly made of brass, thus making them very popular.
Most consumers today see stainless steel as the most modern alternative. Adding a modern-looking steel design will immediately add value to your garden and elevate the overall mood. Like other water features, they come in an array of sizes.
Fiberglass fountains are popular because they look similar to metal but are more affordable and much less difficult to move around. Caring for a fiberglass water fountain is relatively easy, another benefit that consumers seek.
