Water Features: The Minoan Civilization On the Greek island of Crete, excavations have discovered channels of numerous varieties. They were used for water supply as well as removal of storm water and wastewater. There are two good examples of Minoan terracotta pipes, those with a shortened cone shape and a U-shape which have not been caught in any culture since that time. The water supply at Knossos Palace was handled with a strategy of terracotta pipes which was located underneath the floor, at depths varying from a couple of centimeters to several meters. Along with circulating water, the clay conduits of the Minoans were also used to amass water and store it.
