The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Outdoor Water fountains
The One Cleaning Solution to NEVER Use On Your Outdoor Water fountains
Every 3-4 months, garden fountains should have a good cleaning. Prior to cleaning, all of the water must be taken out. Once it is empty, wash inside the reservoir with a gentle cleanser. A useful tip is to use a toothbrush if there are small hard-to-reach spots. Any soap residue left on your fountain can damage it, so be sure it is all rinsed off.
Make sure you get rid of any calcium or plankton by taking the pump apart and washing the inside properly. To make it less strenuous, soak it in vinegar for several hours before cleaning. Neither rain water nor mineral water contain components that will build up inside the pump, so use either over tap water if possible.
Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain every day and add water if you see that the level is low. Permitting the water level to get too low can result in damage to the pump - and you certainly do not want that!
