The Many Reasons to Add a Wall Fountain
The Many Reasons to Add a Wall Fountain The addition of a wall fountain or an outdoor garden fountain is a great way to adorn your yard or garden design. Many contemporary designers and craftsmen have been influenced by historical fountains and water features.
Putting in a wall fountain is your best solution for a little garden because a spouting or cascading fountain occupies too much space. There are two types of fountains to pick from including the freestanding version with a flat back and an attached basin set up against a fence or a wall in your yard, or the wall-mounted, self-contained variety which is suspended directly on a wall. Be sure to include a fountain mask to an existing wall and a basin to collect the water at the bottom if you wish to add a fountain to your living area. Since the plumbing and masonry work is substantial to complete this type of job, you should hire a specialist to do it rather than attempt to do it alone.
Archaic Greek Artwork: Outdoor Statuary
Archaic Greek Artwork: Outdoor Statuary Archaic Greeks were well known for creating the first freestanding statuary; up till then, most carvings were made out of walls and pillars as reliefs. Kouros figures, statues of adolescent, good-looking male or female (kore) Greeks, made up the bulk of the statues. The kouroi were believed by the Greeks to embody beauty and were sculpted with one foot leading and an uncompromising rigidity to their forward-facing poses; the male statues were always strapping, sinewy, and undressing. Around 650 BC, life-sized forms of the kouroi began to be seen. The Archaic period was tumultuous for the Greeks as they evolved into more sophisticated forms of government and art, and gained more information about the peoples and civilizations outside of Greece.
