When aqueducts or springs weren’t available, people living at greater elevations turned to water drawn from underground or rainwater, which was made possible by wells and cisterns. To supply water to Pincian Hill in the early sixteenth century, they implemented the new strategy of redirecting the current from the Acqua Vergine aqueduct’s underground channel. Pozzi, or manholes, were constructed at standard stretches along the aqueduct’s channel. The manholes made it easier to clean the channel, but it was also possible to use buckets to extract water from the aqueduct, as we discovered with Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi when he owned the property from 1543 to 1552, the year he passed away. Although the cardinal also had a cistern to accumulate rainwater, it didn’t provide enough water. To provide himself with a more streamlined system to gather water, he had one of the manholes exposed, providing him access to the aqueduct below his property.

The Use of Fountains As Water Elements

A simple suspended fountain or an intricate courtyard tiered fountain are just two examples from the broad range of articles available. Given that they are so variable, these decorative elements can be placed either in your backyard or inside your home. Ponds and swimming pools are also regarded as water features.

Garden wall fountains are worthwhile additions to your living areas such as yards, yoga studios, cozy patios, apartment verandas, or office buildings. You can relax to the softly cascading water in your fountain and gratify your senses of sight and sound. The most important consideration is the pleasantly beautiful form they have which complements the interior design of any room. Gently moving water not only leads to a feeling of peace, it also masks irksome noises and produces a captivating water show.
