Garden Water Fountains As Water Features
Garden Water Fountains As Water Features A water feature is a big element which has water streaming in or through it. There is an extensive array of such features ranging something as simple as a suspended wall fountain or as intricate as a courtyard tiered fountain. Known for their adaptability, they can be used either indoors or outdoors. Pools and ponds are also considered water elements.
An outdoor wall fountain can be a beneficial water element to include in any yard, yoga studio, patio, balcony, or office space. You can relax to the gently cascading water in your fountain and enchant your senses of sight and sound. With their visibly pleasing shape you can also use them to enhance the decor in your home or other living area. The water’s comforting sounds contribute to a sense of tranquility, cover up unpleasant noises, and provide a delightful water display.
Contemporary Garden Decor: Large Outdoor Water Fountains and their Beginnings

The central purpose of a fountain was originally strictly functional. Residents of cities, townships and small towns used them as a source of drinking water and a place to wash up, which meant that fountains had to be connected to nearby aqueduct or spring. Until the late nineteenth, century most water fountains operated using gravity to allow water to flow or jet into the air, therefore, they needed a supply of water such as a reservoir or aqueduct located higher than the fountain. Designers thought of fountains as amazing additions to a living space, however, the fountains also served to supply clean water and celebrate the artist responsible for creating it. Roman fountains usually depicted imagery of animals or heroes made of bronze or stone masks. During the Middle Ages, Muslim and Moorish garden planners included fountains to create smaller depictions of the gardens of paradise. King Louis XIV of France wanted to illustrate his dominion over nature by including fountains in the Gardens of Versailles. The Romans of the 17th and 18th centuries created baroque decorative fountains to exalt the Popes who commissioned them as well as to mark the spot where the restored Roman aqueducts entered the city.
Since indoor plumbing became the standard of the day for clean, drinking water, by the end of the 19th century urban fountains were no longer needed for this purpose and they became purely decorative. The introduction of unique water effects and the recycling of water were 2 things made possible by replacing gravity with mechanical pumps.
Decorating city parks, honoring people or events and entertaining, are some of the uses of modern-day fountains.
