In the late 1500's, a French water feature developer (whose name has been lost) was the globally recognized hydraulics innovator. His competence in creating landscapes and grottoes with built-in and imaginative water attributes began in Italy and with mandates in Brussels, London and Germany. In France, near the closure of his life, he wrote “The Principle of Moving Forces”, a book that turned into the fundamental text on hydraulic technology and engineering.
