Keep Your Large Garden Fountains Clean
Keep Your Large Garden Fountains Clean Water fountains will last a very long time with routine cleaning and maintenance.
It is essential to clean it out and remove any debris or foreign objects that might have fallen into or onto it. Also, algae tends to build up wherever natural light meets water. In order to stay clear of this, there are some simple ingredients that can be mixed into the water, such as vinegar, sea salt, or hydrogen peroxide. Some people opt for pouring bleach into the water, but the drawback is that it harms wildlife - so it should be avoided. Every three-four months, garden fountains should undergo a decent cleaning. Before you can start cleaning it you should empty out all of the water. Next use mild soap and a soft sponge to clean the interior of the reservoir. Feel free to use a toothbrush if needed for any tiny crevasses. Make sure all the soap is completely washed off.
It is highly advised taking the pump apart to better clean the inside and eliminate any plankton or calcium. Letting it soak in vinegar for a couple of hours first will make it alot easier to clean. Build-up can be a big hassle, so use mineral or rain water over tap water, when possible, to eliminate this dilemma.
Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain every day and add water if you see that the level is low. Allowing the water to drop below the pump’s intake level, can cause serious damage and even make the pump burn out - an undesired outcome!
