Keep Your Outdoor Fountain Clean
Keep Your Outdoor Fountain Clean
Experts recommend that the typical garden fountain undergoes a thorough scrubbing every 3-4 months. Prior to cleaning, all the water must be eliminated. When you have done this, scrub inside the water reservoir with a mild detergent. If there are any little grooves, use a toothbrush to get each and every spot. Any soap residue left on your fountain can damage it, so be sure it is all rinsed off.
Make sure you get rid of any calcium or plankton by taking the pump apart and washing the inside carefully. Soaking it in vinegar for a bit will make it easier to scrub. Mineral or rain water, versus tap water, is ideal in order to prevent any build-up of chemicals inside the pump.
Finally, be sure to have a quick look at your fountain every day and add water if you notice that the level is depleted. Low water levels can ruin the pump - and you do not want that!
