The Source of Modern Day Fountains

The Source of Modern Day Fountains The translation of hundreds of classical Greek texts into Latin was commissioned by the learned Pope Nicholas V who led the Church in Rome from 1397 till 1455. He undertook the beautification of Rome to turn it into the worthy seat of the Christian world. Beginning in 1453, the ruined ancient Roman aqueduct known as the Aqua Vergine which had brought clean drinking water into the city from eight miles away, underwent repair at the behest of the Pope. A mostra, a monumental commemorative fountain constructed by ancient Romans to mark the point of arrival of an aqueduct, was a practice which was restored by Nicholas V. The architect Leon Battista Alberti was commissioned by the Pope to construct a wall fountain where we now find the Trevi Fountain. Changes and extensions, included in the restored aqueduct, eventually provided the Trevi Fountain and the well-known baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona with the necessary water supply.

Water features such as fountains benefit from the reflective characteristics stemming from dark materials. If your objective is to highlight your new feature at night, underwater lights in various colors and shapes will do the trick. Sunshine is required to power eco-lights during the day time while underwater lights are great for night use. The calming effect created by these is oftentimes used in nature therapies to alleviate anxiety and stress.

The greenery in your garden is the perfect place to place your water feature. People will be centered on the pond, artificial river or fountain in your garden.
