The Dissemination of Fountain Design Technology

The Dissemination of Fountain Design Technology Throughout the European countries, the chief means of spreading useful hydraulic facts and fountain design ideas were the published papers and illustrated books of the day, which contributed to the evolution of scientific technology. An un-named French fountain engineer was an internationally famed hydraulic pioneer in the late 1500's. His expertise in creating gardens and grottoes with incorporated and brilliant water features began in Italy and with mandates in Brussels, London and Germany. He penned a publication entitled “The Principles of Moving Forces” toward the end of his life while in France that came to be the fundamental book on hydraulic mechanics and engineering. Modernizing key hydraulic findings of classical antiquity, the book also details modern hydraulic technologies. The water screw, a mechanical method to move water, and devised by Archimedes, was highlighted in the book. Natural light heated up the water in two concealed containers adjoining to the decorative water feature were displayed in an illustration.Dissemination Fountain Design Technology 22057484787811458484.jpg The hot water expands and then ascends and closes the water pipes consequently triggering the water feature. Models for pumps, water wheels, water attributes and garden ponds are also mentioned in the book.

The Magificent First Wonders by Bernini

The Magificent First Wonders by Bernini The Barcaccia, a beautiful fountain built at the base of the Trinita dei Monti in Piaza di Spagna, was Bernini's earliest water fountain. To this day, you will see Roman residents and vacation goers filling this spot to revel in chit chatter and being among other people. Today, the city streets around Bernini's water fountain are a trendy area where people go to meet, something which the artist would have been pleased to learn.Magificent First Wonders Bernini 128724042.jpg In about 1630, the great artist designed the first fountain of his career at the behest of Pope Ubano VIII. The fountain’s central motif is based on an enormous ship slowly sinking into the Mediterranean. The great 16th century flood of the Tevere, which left the entire region inundated with water, was memorialized by the water fountain according to writings from the period. In 1665 Bernini journeyed to France, in what was to be his only lengthy absence from Italy.
