Did You Know How Mechanical Concepts of Fountains Became Known?
Did You Know How Mechanical Concepts of Fountains Became Known? Contributing to the development of scientific technology were the printed papers and illustrated books of the day. They were also the principal means of transmitting useful hydraulic ideas and water fountain design ideas all through Europe. In the late 1500's, a French fountain developer (whose name has been lost) was the globally distinguished hydraulics leader.
With imperial mandates in Brussels, London and Germany, he began his work in Italy, building knowledge in garden design and grottoes with integrated and ingenious water hydraulics. The text, “The Principles of Moving Forces,” penned near the end of his lifetime in France, turned into the definitive writing on hydraulic mechanics and engineering. Replacing key hydraulic advancements of classical antiquity, the publication also explains contemporary hydraulic technologies. Dominant among these works were those of Archimedes, the inventor of the water screw, a mechanized means of transferring water. An decorative water fountain with the sun heating up the water in two containers stashed in a nearby area was shown in one illustration. The heated water expands and subsequently rises and closes the pipes consequently triggering the water feature. Pumps, water wheels, water features and garden pond concepts are covered in the publication.
Aspects of Outdoor Sculpture in Archaic Greece
Aspects of Outdoor Sculpture in Archaic Greece The first freestanding statuary was designed by the Archaic Greeks, a distinguished success since until then the only carvings in existence were reliefs cut into walls and columns. Kouros figures, statues of young, good-looking male or female (kore) Greeks, made up the greater part of the statues. The kouroi were believed by the Greeks to represent beauty and were sculpted with one foot leading and an uncompromising stiffness to their forward-facing poses; the male statues were always strapping, sinewy, and naked. Around 650 BC, life-sized models of the kouroi began to be observed.
A significant time of modification for the Greeks, the Archaic period introduced about newer forms of state, expressions of artwork, and a higher comprehension of people and cultures outside of Greece. Notwithstanding, these conflicts did little to hamper the progression of the Greek civilization.
