Archaic Greek Artwork: Outdoor Statuary
Archaic Greek Artwork: Outdoor Statuary Archaic Greeks were renowned for developing the first freestanding statuary; up till then, most carvings were made out of walls and pillars as reliefs. Youthful, appealing male or female (kore) Greeks were the subject matter of most of the statues, or kouros figures. The kouroi were believed by the Greeks to represent beauty and were sculpted with one foot leading and an uncompromising rigidity to their forward-facing poses; the male statues were always strapping, sinewy, and undressing. In about 650 BC, the varieties of the kouroi became life-sized.
The Outdoor Fountains
The Outdoor Fountains The water from creeks and other sources was originally supplied to the occupants of nearby communities and municipalities by way of water fountains, whose purpose was largely practical, not artistic. To generate water flow through a fountain until the end of the 1800’s, and generate a jet of water, demanded the force of gravity and a water source such as a spring or reservoir, located higher than the fountain. Inspirational and spectacular, large water fountains have been crafted as monuments in most societies. The contemporary fountains of modern times bear little resemblance to the first water fountains. Uncomplicated stone basins sculpted from local rock were the first fountains, used for religious purposes and drinking water. The earliest stone basins are suspected to be from around 2000 B.C.. The force of gravity was the power source that controlled the oldest water fountains. These historic water fountains were built to be functional, often situated along aqueducts, streams and waterways to furnish drinking water. The people of Rome began constructing decorative fountains in 6 BC, most of which were metallic or stone masks of wildlife and mythological representations.

A fan can be used to blow fresh, dry air over them so as to produce a cooling effect. Utilizing the ceiling fan or air from a corner of the room can help to enhance circulation. The most critical consideration is to make sure that the air is consistently flowing over the surface of the water. It is the nature of fountains and waterfalls to produce cool, fresh air. The sudden chill we feel is normal when we come near a big municipal fountain or a waterfall. Your fountain cooling system should not be installed in an area which is especially hot. Your fountain will be less efficient if you put it in the sunlight.
