At What Point Did Water Features Emerge?
At What Point Did Water Features Emerge? Pope Nicholas V, himself a learned man, ruled the Roman Catholic Church from 1397 to 1455 during which time he commissioned many translations of old classic Greek documents into Latin. He undertook the embellishment of Rome to make it into the worthy seat of the Christian world. In 1453 the Pope instigated the rebuilding of the Aqua Vergine, an ancient Roman aqueduct which had carried fresh drinking water into the city from eight miles away. Building a mostra, an imposing commemorative fountain built by ancient Romans to memorialize the arrival point of an aqueduct, was a custom revived by Nicholas V. At the bidding of the Pope, architect Leon Battista Alberti undertook the construction of a wall fountain in the place where we now find the Trevi Fountain. The water which eventually supplied the Trevi Fountain as well as the acclaimed baroque fountains in the Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Navona flowed from the modified aqueduct which he had renovated.Keep Your Outdoor Garden Fountain Clean
Keep Your Outdoor Garden Fountain Clean In order to ensure that water fountains last a while, it is important to perform regular maintenance.
An extensive cleaning every three-four months is best for garden fountains. First you must remove the water. Then use gentle and a soft sponge to clean the innner part of the reservoir. Feel free to use a toothbrush if necessary for any tiny crevasses. Do not leave any soap deposit in or on the fountain.
Calcium and fresh water organisms could get inside the pump, so you should really disassemble it to get it truly clean. Letting it soak in vinegar for several hours first will make it alot easier to clean. Neither rain water nor mineral water contain ingredients that will accumulate inside the pump, so use either over tap water if possible.
One final tip for keeping your fountain in top working condition is to check the water level every day and make sure it is full. If the water level falls below the pump’s intake level, it can harm the pump and cause it to burn out - something you don't want to happen!
The Major Characteristics of Ancient Greek Statues
The Major Characteristics of Ancient Greek Statues Archaic Greeks were known for creating the first freestanding statuary; up until then, most carvings were constructed out of walls and pillars as reliefs. Most of these freestanding sculptures were what is known as kouros figures, statues of young, attractive male or female (kore) Greeks. Considered by Greeks to represent splendour, the kouroi were formed into inflexible, forward facing positions with one foot outstretched, and the male statues were always nude, well-developed, and athletic. Life-sized versions of the kouroi appeared beginning in 650 BC.
Your Garden: An Ideal Spot for a Garden Fountain
Your Garden: An Ideal Spot for a Garden Fountain The addition of a wall fountain or an outdoor garden fountain is a great way to beautify your yard or garden design.
Putting in a wall water feature is your best option for a little backyard because a spouting or cascading fountain occupies too much space. Two options to pick from include either a freestanding type with an even back set against a fence or wall in your garden, or a wall-mounted, self-contained type which hangs on a wall. Adding a fountain to an existing wall requires that you include a fountain mask as well as a basin at the bottom to collect the water. The plumbing and masonry work necessary for this kind of work requires know-how, so it is best to employ a skilled person rather than do it yourself.
