He undertook the embellishment of Rome to turn it into the worthy capital of the Christian world. In 1453 the Pope instigated the rebuilding of the Aqua Vergine, an historic Roman aqueduct which had carried clean drinking water into the city from eight miles away. The historical Roman tradition of marking the entry point of an aqueduct with an imposing celebratory fountain, also known as a mostra, was restored by Nicholas V. The present-day site of the Trevi Fountain was formerly occupied by a wall fountain commissioned by the Pope and constructed by the architect Leon Battista Alberti. The Trevi Fountain as well as the well-known baroque fountains found in the Piazza del Popolo and the Piazza Navona were eventually supplied with water from the altered aqueduct he had rebuilt.

What Are Landscape Fountains Crafted From?

What Are Landscape Fountains Crafted From? While today’s garden fountains are made in a number of materials, most are made from metal.Landscape Fountains Crafted From? 245093707.jpg Metallic models offer clean lines and unique sculptural accents and will fit in with nearly any decorative style and budget. If you have a modern-day look and feel to your interior design, your yard and garden should have that same style.

One of the most popular metals for sculptural garden fountains these days is copper. Copper is popular for both inside and outside use and is widely found in tabletop and cascade fountains, among others. If you choose to go with copper, your fountain can be any style from fun and whimsical to contemporary.

Brass water fountains are also popular, although they tend to have a more traditional look than copper ones. Although it is not the most modern, the creatures and sculptural features you find on fountains are commonly made of brass, thus making them very popular.

Arguably the most modern of all metals is stainless steel. Adding a modern-looking steel design will immediately add value to your garden and improve the overall ambiance. As with most fountains, they are available in many sizes.

Because it is both lighter and less expensive than metal but has a similar look, fiberglass is quite common for fountains. Keeping a fiberglass water fountain clean and working properly is quite simple, another aspect consumers like.
