Water Delivery Solutions in Historic Rome
Water Delivery Solutions in Historic Rome Rome’s first raised aqueduct, Aqua Anio Vetus, was built in 273 BC; prior to that, inhabitants residing at higher elevations had to rely on local springs for their water. During this time period, there were only 2 other systems capable of providing water to high areas, subterranean wells and cisterns, which amassed rainwater. To supply water to Pincian Hill in the early sixteenth century, they employed the brand-new technique of redirecting the movement from the Acqua Vergine aqueduct’s underground channel. As originally constructed, the aqueduct was provided along the length of its channel with pozzi (manholes) constructed at regular intervals. Whilst these manholes were manufactured to make it simpler and easier to maintain the aqueduct, it was also feasible to use buckets to pull water from the channel, which was exercised by Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi from the time he purchased the property in 1543 to his death in 1552. The cistern he had built to gather rainwater wasn’t adequate to meet his water specifications. Thankfully, the aqueduct sat directly below his property, and he had a shaft opened to give him access.Garden Fountains: An Ideal Decor Accessory to Find Serenity
