In Rome’s city center, there are many celebrated public fountains. One of the most distinguished sculptors and artists of the 17th century, Gian Lorenzo Bernini designed, created and built almost all of them. Also a city architect, he had abilities as a fountain developer, and records of his life's work are apparent throughout the avenues of Rome.
